Career Days in the Machinery and Metal Technologies Department

They organized events and met with industry professionals to receive comprehensive training on job search, negotiation techniques, and career planning.

The Balıkesir University Balıkesir Vocational School Machinery and Metal Technologies Department engaged with the industry through its "Career Days" events, which were well-attended from May 6–8, 2025. These events were organized with the aim of equipping those who play a crucial role in preparing for professional life.

“Career Planning and Job Search Skills” Training with İŞKUR Support

In the trainings held by Balıkesir İŞKUR Job and Vocational Counselors Sümeyye Kaplan Gök, Nuray Karamanlı, Serap Çelebi Yılmaz and Ayşe Çağlar on 06–07 May, students learned the following;

  • Interview Techniques
  • Communication and Body Language
  • CV Preparation Methods
  • Vocational Orientation Test Battery
  • Job Search Strategies


at the end of the training, Dr. Lecturer Elif Arancı Öztürk, Head of the Machinery and Metal Technologies Department, presented certificates of appreciation to the consultants for their contributions.

Industry Meeting with BEST A.Ş.: "What is Expected from Technicians?"

At a seminar held on May 8, 2025, at 1:30 PM, Berna Koca, a mechanical engineer at BEST A.Ş., met with students with a speech titled "What to Expect from Mechanical Technicians in the Working World?" Koca emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong industry presence after graduation, improving foreign language skills, and constantly updating technical skills related to computer programs.

Koca also noted that 49 of the 256 engineers working at their company are Mechanical Engineers, and 52 of the 323 technicians are Mechanical Technicians, highlighting the importance of the diplomas graduates will hold in these fields for the industry.

Technical Trip Planned for Next Term

As part of the Career Days events, a technical trip to BEST Inc. was also planned for the 2025–2026 academic year. The events concluded with a question-and-answer session and the presentation of a certificate of appreciation by Dr. Elif Arancı Öztürk, Head of the Machinery and Metal Technologies Department.

Inspiring Experiences from Graduates: "Transitioning to Engineering with DGS"

In an online seminar held at 5:00 PM the same day, department graduates Ömer Gür, Serkan Olutürk, and Toprak İşbilir shared their experiences transitioning to engineering education through the DGS exam. Participants described the challenges they faced during the exam preparation process and offered critical advice, including perseverance and the importance of determining their target city, school, and department.
